To September 2003, three seniors Manickampillai Velauthapillai, Vythilingam Thirunavukkarasu and Sundaram Kandasamy, were sitting at a McDonnell Shop, talked about starting a club for the seniors in the surrounding. Later, more seniors who came to McDonnels showed enthusiasm about the idea.
The challenge they had was the space. One of the Founder Mr. Velauthapillai who was working as an acting substitute teacher at the nearby Middlefield Collegiate Institute, approached the Principal and Vice Principal and they obliged to provide the space and that’s how the ‘Middlefield Seniors Wellness Club’ was started.
One of the main reasons they started the this club is to carry out cultural, social and recreational activities for the Senior citizens of the community in particular and other in general.
